Pros and Cons of Perforated Window Vinyl
Perforated window vinyl, also called window perf, is one of our window graphic specialties! It’s a great way to bring attention to your business and it can be a lot more eye-catching than a traditional sign. You can improve your business’s visibility and it offers privacy all while letting in a lot of natural light. It’s a unique way to show off your brand’s personality too.
If you’re still on the fence and aren’t sure about using window perf, we break down the pros and cons below!
Pros of Perforated Window Vinyl
We may be partial, but we love window perf. We’ve installed several over the years and we find that our clients are consistently pleased. Let’s take a deeper look at the pros of this type of window covering.
Great Way to Advertise
Business signs are great and all, but what about all of that prime window real estate?
This is especially true for shops and businesses that live on streets with a lot of traffic – foot or otherwise. If you can grab potential customers’ attention at eye level, they will be more likely to come inside to see what you’re all about. Plus people will be able to see the window perf regardless of the weather or lighting. No more worry about the glare!
Rather than wasting that precious window space, use it to promote your biz instead.
One-Way Privacy
Window perf offers one-way privacy. That means that you’ll be able to see the outside world, but passersby won’t be able to see you. This is why window perf is the perfect solution for doctor’s offices, gyms, spas, or any sort of business that may want to offer a bit of privacy to their customers.
It can also come in handy for offices that are on street level. Window perf can also give your employees privacy when they’re hard at work.
Lets in Light
A window covering doesn’t necessarily have to block out light! If you’re worried about losing the natural light that can make spending time in your business more enjoyable, don’t sweat it. Window perf lets in plenty of it!
For sunshine-lovers like us, this is perhaps the ultimate argument for installing window perf.
Two Different Options
We offer two different versions of window perf:
50/50 for vehicles
70/30 for architectural
If you’re scratching your head and wondering, “huh?” let us explain. A 50/50 perforation pattern means that 50% of the vinyl is perforated. It is the most open window perf option available, and it also boasts the largest hole to vinyl ratio. We use this version on vehicles like cars, trucks, and vans as it offers greater visibility.
A 70/30 perforation pattern means that 30% of the vinyl is perforated and 70% is solid vinyl. We use this version on windows and buildings. There is more vinyl to work with, which will allow your design to pop. You’ll have more colors, contrast, and you can include finer details than with a 50/50 perf.
Easy printing
Our window perf is printed just like any other of our types of vinyl. That means that they are fully customizable. You can print out your logo, slogan, or even go with a picture of your team. The choice is yours – and we’re ready to help bring to life whatever you envision.
Cons of Perforated Window Vinyl
Nothing is perfect, and window perf is no exception! Below you’ll find a few things we aren’t too crazy about.
Fades more quickly
Window perf will fade more quickly than its standard solid-vinyl counterparts. While they are built to last and are designed to resist the elements, it doesn’t change the fact that whether you go for 50/50 or 70/30 patterns, there are holes in your perf.
Sunshine is the big culprit here, so if your window doesn’t get any of it directly, fading shouldn’t be too huge of an issue. But it’s definitely something to be aware of!
Can get pricey
When looking at large solid vinyl options, pricing for window perf is fairly comparable. But, when compared to other window decorations like small spot graphics, it can be a bit pricier.
We will say this: window perf can be more eye-catching and unique than typical window graphics (although we make those too!). It all depends on your budget and how much money you’re willing and able to put into advertising.
