The Writing’s on the Wall

Normally when we hear “writing on the wall” we think of crayons and kids, not dry erase and adults.  Unlike those kids and crayons situations, you actually want writing on the wall when it comes to a great product like CSG Protect.  Let us tell you more!

CSG Protect is the end result of years of collaboration with Honeywell on their ACLAR product.  For those not familiar with ACLAR, it’s usually used in packaging.  We wanted to take the performance and structure of ACLAR and use it in a new application.

The Nerdy Stuff

CSG Protect is a proprietary protective laminate.  It combines polychlorotrifluoroethylene (we don’t want to keep typing that out, so we’re going to say PCTFE) with a durable clear cover barrier film, an outdoor grade pressure-sensitive adhesive, and a peelable polyethylene terephthalate (PET) liner.

This means:

  • The surface can be used for either dry-erase or wet-erase applications.  For dry-erase markers you can use a simple eraser, for permanent markers, simply use a common cleaning chemical like rubbing alcohol

  • The surface is UV-stable and has a 7-year life expectancy for outdoor usage

  • The surface can be cleaned with any chemical or cleaner without damaging, degrading, or dis-coloring the material or the surface

  • CSG Protect can be installed on flat or curved surfaces, just like any wall wrap

  • CSG Protect can be easily self-installed (or removed) with a heat gun, leaving no adhesive residue behind!

  • CSG Protect is bioinert: the surface doesn’t allow for the growth or propagation of germs and viruses

  • CSG Protect doesn’t use heavy metals and is non-toxic

While those qualities make CSG Protect an excellent choice for surface protection and graffiti protection, it also allows us to turn any surface you’d like into a whiteboard that can be written on and erased.  Kids no longer have to worry about “ruining” parts of the house.  In fact, you can supply them with the markers they need.  All of it can be wiped off.

But Wait, There’s More

Whiteboards aren’t just for kids to doodle in hallways, they are great for adults for other purposes!  Examples include:

  • In the kitchen - either by the pantry or on the fridge (or both) - you can keep track of items you need to get the next time you do your shopping

  • In kids’ bedrooms - they can write down assignments or goals and reminders - good habits start young!

  • In a den or living area - you can play games like hangman or tic-tac-toe, but you can also have ongoing discussions about things like “where do we want to go on vacation” or “what do we want to eat for Saturday breakfast?”  You can also use a large whiteboard as the backdrop for a projector for movie night

  • In a laundry area, garage, or workshop - for the same reasons as in the kitchen - reminders of what needs to be done or how a certain project needs to be laid out or just for good old fashioned brainstorming

  • In a home office - so many more people are working from home than used to - whiteboards in an office can help you keep track of projects and deadlines and as we mentioned already, brainstorming

  • In any of these locations a popular use we consistently see among our clients is a calendar.  The grid can be drawn any way that you like and then erased and restarted each month.

  • The versatility of providing both wet erase and dry erase for these surfaces means that if you’re worried you’re going to accidentally erase something important, you can write it down in permanent marker and when you do need to remove it finally you can do so easily.

CSG Protect in use on our office desk and on our wall!

And remember, in all these use cases the product can be printed with any background and in any shape you want
